A longtime presence on the Cincinnati indie rock scene, multi-instrumentalist and singer/songwriter ROYAL HOLLAND began developing his intimate and grooving synth-folk vibe while performing over the years in bands that played everything from 90s alt rock to punk. The demise of his last group KOALA FIRES in 2013 inspired him to finally take a leap at a solo career. Holland – whose voice has been favorably compared to that of the great ROY ORBISON – locked himself into a practice space and created a sparkling new set of demos that have evolved into a projected series of EPs and LPs over the next few years. His infectious five track debut EP VOLUME ONE – THE MAZE was helmed by GRAMMY winning producer BRIAN OLIVE, best known for being part of the garage rock group THE GREENHORNES and who has worked with everyone from DR. JOHN to DAN AUERBACH of THE BLACK KEYS. He and HOLLAND will collaborate later in 2014 to record the second volume, and shortly thereafter for a third. The singer’s plan is to then release the songs on the EPs collectively on vinyl before moving on to tackle a full concept LP (whose songs he is already at work on).
